Okay I have got to admit, the moment I said yes to his proposal, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Well of course it has to be what he wants too because, lets just be nice here and say the wedding isn't just about me. :D
Once we got clearance from the parents that we can do what we see fit to our budget we got the ball rolling. As someone that always plan ahead, I kind of had the card design at hand even before the proposal too place! Adjustments were made along the way and I would say we did well. It was very simple yet it was elegant. Just what I wanted. A mix of modernity and also chinese elements were here and there on the card.
We knew we wanted to do a very simple lunch. So getting the venue was also a breeze cos there was an air conditioned hall right next to the church that we were getting married at. Choosing the caterer was no fun. Though we did get a recommendation from a friend, which to be honest, it is the only regret I had for the wedding. But oh well, lets not dwell on that. But it was quite an experience because I had the help of many friends to help decorate the hall and the tables and also with the doorgifts that we painstakingly made from scratch.
But we also did a lunch do for our family and close friends after our ROM. It was nice and simple and to be honest, I did not feel the slightest stress because we both did not plan the whole lunch do! Thanks to the very semangat in laws, they got it all sorted out. What we had to do was just turn up and greet and thank the guest for taking their time to come and celebrate with us.
Church ceremony was also very simple and straightforward. Church attendance was full thanks to the many friends the husband has. It was spiritually as described by one of the church friends. There were so many people in the church it felt like a full blown mass that was happening. And mind you, the church that we had our wedding at was, is one of the biggest in Malaysia. So it really did feel like an accomplisment that day.
Flowers in the church were sorted by church, which I am very grateful for. I did not have to think who to help me deco and put them up. Bouquet and boutoinnere were a blessing from Godma who so generously paid for me. I am forever greatful for that. This is because my initial plan was to make my own and I am very sure it would not have turned out as beautiful as the bouquet that I am holding in the picture on the right.
Having a chinese mother would require me to serve tea to my chinese relatives from my mother's side. That was also done swiftly. Tea and tea set was all prepared earlier. I am thankful for the amazing Indian Dai Kam Jie that we had. :)
The dress and veil. My closest friend helped me designed and got a tailor to sew my beautifully, elegant and simple wedding dress. And the veil. I knew I wanted a cathedral veil and it was so so beautiful. The tailor did an amazing job and I knew people really loved it too. It's going to the dry cleaners every August just so that there will be no yellow stains on it. Hopefully my daughthers will want to use it for their own wedding in the future. :)
It was indeed the happiest day for the both of us. I will be forever thankful of the friends that helped me so much for the preparations. And I will never forget all the things that people easily condemn behind my back and tried forcing their ideas on us.
On a happier note. Now that the wedding preps are out of the way, it is time to focus on the marriage and for us to build our lives together with God's blessings.
